Preparation, procedure and anaesthesia
Preparation includes a preoperative assessment and, depending on the technique, imaging. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia or deep local anesthesia. The incisions are most often hidden inside the mouth.
Aftercare, recovery and results
Swelling and sensitivity of the chin are common during the first days; a soft diet is recommended for a time in case of an intraoral approach. Returning to social life is often possible after one to two weeks. Transient numbness of the lower lip may occur and generally subsides.
The result can be appreciated once the swelling has resolved, over several weeks. No result can be guaranteed in advance.
Risks and limitations
- Like any procedure, it carries risks (anesthesia, healing, transient sensory disturbances) explained during consultation.
