Breast lift in Tunisia

The breast lift (mastopexy) corrects breast sagging and raises the breasts for a firmer shape, without necessarily resorting to implants. In Tunisia, Olea Medical's priority destination, your journey is organised from start to finish.

Breast lift (mastopexy): what is it?

The breast lift, or mastopexy, corrects breast ptosis (sagging) by removing excess skin and repositioning the gland and areola higher, to restore a firm shape. It does not significantly change volume: when a gain in volume is desired, it can be combined with implants (lift with implants), a topic covered separately.

Ptosis often results from pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or ageing. In Tunisia, the procedure is performed by specialised teams in partner facilities.

Goals of the procedure

  • Correct breast sagging (ptosis)
  • Raise and recentre the areola
  • Restore a firm, harmonious shape
  • Achieve a natural result suited to the anatomy

Who is it for? Indications

  • Breast ptosis after pregnancy, weight loss or ageing
  • Volume considered sufficient (otherwise implants may be combined)
  • Good general health, without contraindication
  • Realistic expectations, discussed during the consultation

Only a healthcare professional can determine whether a procedure is suitable for your situation, following a medical assessment.

Techniques

Peri-areolar scar

For moderate ptosis; scar around the areola.

Vertical scar

Around the areola and vertical down to the fold, for moderate ptosis.

Inverted-T (anchor) scar

For significant ptosis, with a horizontal component in the inframammary fold.

Preparation, procedure and anaesthesia

Preparation includes a preoperative assessment and, if necessary, breast imaging. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. A support bra is fitted afterwards.

Aftercare, recovery and results

Swelling and tenderness are common in the first few weeks. Wearing the support bra is recommended for several weeks. Return to activities is gradual; arm effort and sport are postponed according to instructions.

Scars fade over several months to a year. The result stabilises gradually. No result can be guaranteed in advance, and ptosis may reappear over time.

Risks and limitations

  • As with any procedure, it carries risks (anaesthesia, healing, changes in areola sensitivity) explained during the consultation.
  • Scars are permanent; their extent depends on the degree of ptosis.
  • Following the compression garment and instructions contributes to a better result.
